Greetings and HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all those celebrating! I hope you had an awesome Turkey Day, maybe got some good deals for Black Friday… and are ready to take a break for some crafting!
Let’s have some fun with products from Pear Blossom Press today! For today’s card I am using a halo light.

This card also features Gerda Steiner Designs digital stamp, Penguin with Candle and Lawn Fawn’s Magic Iris Holly Wreath Add-on.
Don’t know how to use Digital Stamps?
Head on over to the Gerda Steiner Designs Blog for the companion post: Digital Stamp Tutorial for Silent night.
First I downloaded the digital stamp and sized it in Microsoft Word to fit in the 2″ circle. I used a 2″ tall image for this look.

I printed my Penguin with Candle on my favorite alcohol ink paper, Neenah Solar White 80lb and colored with OLO markers.

For a fading-in glow from all around for this halo light I used a Pear Blossom Press A2 white vellum sheet. I wanted it to loosely match the paper, so I colored the vellum on the back with a matching OLO. The lights will glow in this color as well. I thought this would add to the candle-lit look.

I took some Kraft paper from my stash and splattered it with my Kuretake Starry watercolors. In the same splatter box party, I took the Lawn Fawn Magic Iris Holy Wreath Add-on pieces and and sprayed one each with Tim Holtz Micah Sprays Bubbling Cauldron and Specimen. Berries were red glitter paper from my stash.

Trim the Kraft cardstock to 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ so we will have a 1/8″ border of the card base. I took a 2″ circle die and cut out a circle in the Kraft cardstock centered left to right and then that same distance from the top to leave room for a sentiment on the bottom. I added interest by adding splatter and then inked the outer edge with Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Inks.
I glued together the wreath pieces layered and rotated to offset and then applied glue to the edge of the circle hole in Kraft card front to glue the layered wreath on top.

For a sentiment I didn’t have one on hand just the way I wanted it so I printed out a custom sentiment “Silent Night, Holy Night.” I glued the sentiment strip flat to the card front because I plan on mailing this card and want to leave room to have our halo light behind the circle window.

Now to get our star of the show in his wreath! I applied glue to the bottom of the belly and feet of the penguin and then placed the card front on top to glue him where he goes. Then before I glued any more on the back that might make it difficult to stamp my “Press Here” stamp on the front, I got my stamp out!

I lined up the halo light behind the card front so I could mark with a pencil where the “press here” stamp will go. I rotated mine a little so the button is off to the bottom right as far as it will go. I used the Pear Blossom Press Stamp Set for “press here”.
I put glue in the corners of the vellum and placed the card front down on top as well. I then turned it over and secured with tape to be sure it will stay. **Don’t forget to go ahead and put in a battery so you can make sure the lights shine where you want.**

Line up the lights (press to turn them on and look through the front, then temporary tape the halo light to the back of the card front and put double sided tape on the back of the halo light. I do it this way so the light gets placed perfectly on the card base. I have a standard portrait A2 case base (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″) ready to go. Remove the double sided tape backing and then flip over the card front to place on the card base. Gently pull up and remove the temporary tape.

Apply a perimeter of the World’s Best Foam Tape and I added an extra strip at the top and a small piece on the opposite side of the button to be sure there’s good support without getting in the way of the light assembly.
This is my first time using this awesome foam tape! I couldn’t believe how it really is REPOSITIONABLE for up to 30 minutes. It really is the World’s Best Foam Tape!
Here’s the finished card! I love how there’s shimmer from the mica sprays and then a fun pop of candle light glow from the halo light.
See you next month! I’ll be back on Christmas Eve with another light up card! Hope to see you then!
