Cut a 2″ hole where your magnifying glass will go in the words background paper from Unity Stamp Company Found in the Forest {Paper Pack}. This is where your Pear Blossom Press Halo Light will be behind. Make sure there’s enough room to have foam tape around the edges of the lights (hole at least 1/2″ from edge is best).
Line this panel up on to an A2 card base and trace in light pencil the inside of the circle so you know where to place your Halo Light when we are ready.
Cut out a custom sentiment with small alpha dies to fit in to see through the opening. I used Whimsy Stamps Mix and Mingle Alphabet and Numbers Die Set cut letters to spell “You’re Old” and fit it within the pencil circle. They are black mounted to the white card base for a stark contrast that will be easy to see when the mirror goes transparent.
You could also use a 2″ circle sentiment stamp or print a custom message to reveal and adhere this on top of the card base. If you place a scrap piece on top of the card base, remember to re-trace the pencil circle through the hole again so you know where to put the Halo Light when we are ready.
Cut out the Pear Blossom Press Mirror Sheet in a square (at least 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″) to fit behind the 2″ circle opening. Trim off any excess that hangs off the edge of the card. Adhere to the back of the background paper with double-sided tape behind the opening.
Cut out the Hero Arts Magnifying Glass Dies in black for the piece with the 2″ center hole, then the handle in brown. I like to cut out in white and color in with OLO Markers. Up to you! Adhere the handle on to the magnifying glass and then adhere the entire magnifying glass onto the background paper, lining it up with the hole.
You can stop here but I thought I wanted a little more decoration so I added the Spellbinders Frog Prince next to the magnifying glass. I cut in white and colored with my OLO Markers. I decided on the placement of the frog to be where the “Press Here” should go and so I stamped that from the Pear Blossom Press Stamp and Die Set on his belly for a fun effect.
Add an inconspicuous “Happy Birthday” banner across the bottom for what appears to be the only sentiment for the card ;-). Little do they know about that extra message in the magnifying glass! I used Whimsy Stamps Simple Sentiment Strips Clear Stamps and Whimsy Stamps Quick Strips 2 Die Set. I thought it would be fun to die cut the strip again in silver, cut in half, and offset to create an antique-looking frame.
Now to assemble the light! I marked where the button should be where the frog is on the front and adhered the Halo Light to the card base. Then I placed Pear Blossom Press World’s Greatest Foam Tape around the light and perimeter of the card.
I waited to glue down the frog and sentiment until the end. I used the Pear Blossom Press A2 T-square to make sure the sentiment strip was lined up perfectly.
